Child Care Services Bureau
Each month, CYFD provides child care assistance to approximately 22,000 children throughout New Mexico. The child care assistance program helps families pay for child care while parents are working or in school.
CYFD also licenses and regulates child care homes and centers throughout New Mexico. Child care providers receive annual licensing surveys and follow-up visits as necessary. The agency also investigates violations of child care regulations. Substantiated allegations are public record.
CYFD encourages child care programs to meet higher levels of quality through the Look for the Stars program. Look for the Stars is a quality rating system that contains five levels; the higher the Star level, the higher the level of quality.
