Behavioral Health
Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) and Functional Family Therapy (FFT) are two evidence-based practices implemented by CYFD. MST is an intensive home-based services model of family treatment developed to treat serious juvenile offenders and others with severe externalizing behavior disorders. It is provided by private behavioral health agencies in the community. It has been extensively researched and shown to be effective. FFT is a family therapy model with broad application to juveniles with externalizing behavior disorders and their families. In New Mexico FFT is primarily provided by CYFD employees. It has been shown to be effective as an early intervention or intervention model.
